Price Transparency: An Explaination
WHAT TRANSPARENCY DOES:
1. Allows Consumers to know the price of Health Care services, BEFORE the services are rendered.
2. Empowers the consumer to make informed purchasing descions for Health Care services.
3. Stimulates innovation in the health marketplace by leveling the playing field on price.
4. Reduces the administrative burden for providers, empoyers & health plans.
5. Educates Texans on Health Care costs so they can make better choices, regardless of whether they have coverage or not.
6. Enables all Texans to take financial responsibility for their health.
7. Equalizes the price for Health Care services and supplies, so consumers pay the same as anyone else, regardless of wheather they have coverage or not.
8. Encourages health decisions to be made between patient and provider, instead of an insurer.

1. Lack of Consumer information on Health Care prices in the open market.
2.Inconsistant pricing on Health Care to consumers so they get treated equally.
3. Accessibility to Health Care price information so they can make informed decisions.
4. Overcharging to consumers just because they may be paying cash.

2. Cost the State of Texas any Money. At all.
